Dennis Rainey: Why is it that some men just don't act like men?

Guest: My ex-husband has not had any contact with our daughter in almost two years now. And just doesn't show any sign of any interest… Has no idea what it's like to really be a man and take care of his family.

Dennis Rainey: The last thing I want to do is join the "male bashing" that goes on so often in our culture. After all … I am a man. But mainly in our species there's the need for some courage. There's the need for men to replace their wishbone with some backbone. We need to walk like men. I'm talking about having courage, and acting like a Godly man.

For years, Barbara asked me to lead our family in morning devotions. That wasn't something I was used to growing up, but I finally stepped out of my comfort zone and did it. I realized God was calling me to be the spiritual leader of my family. I've seen our family grow spiritually as we've begun our mornings in prayer and Bible study.

One final thought. It's never too late to become a spiritual leader in your home. Let me encourage you to take five minutes tomorrow morning and read the scriptures to your wife or family. Start walking like a real man.

I'm Dennis Rainey, and that's Real Family Life.
